I've seen all kinds of numbering systems in apartments and condos while canvassing. Odd numbers upstairs, even number upstairs, consecutive numbers upstairs with the downstairs being one number below and one number above the two upstairs. Numbers 1, 5 and 6 in the same alcove. All kinds.
But today my canvassing turf included a complex where the highest building numbers had the lowest unit numbers. And vice versa (except that Building 1 either didn't exist or was the rental office).
Canvassing is not boring for many reasons, mostly because of the conversations I have with people. But one extra little thing that keeps it interesting (and keeps me on my toes!) is figuring out where to find each unit number - and, trying to figure out who designed it that way and why??
